ABOUT:
Royal is super lush.  She's autonomous.  A bit sharp.  She is all the things I am not, and I'm here for it.

💋When I imagined how Royal would come together, I returned to the origin of the series: a celebration of women to have ownership over their own bodies, how they dress, and present themselves.
 
She is a visual finger to the cult that would’ve gasped at a women who would shave her head.  She's stunning, with every bit of her flesh covered.  She is a study in reflection, color and texture. 

She’s royal, right? but she’s still kind of sad? Something still unsettled?
 
Look closely to see the warm highlights that dot her forehead, juxtuaposed against blue-ish whites along her scalp.  Those pinks in her furs, yum!  The cool lines that mark her expressive lips.  Yes, please!

This piece is a star in a galaxy of awesome paintings.  
17 pieces were created around a common theme: Eye Traps. 
Inspired by a strict guide by a religious cult, The IBLP (The Institute of Basic Life Priniciples), of appropriate dress and presentation for women, I set out to create a tapestry of oil paintings on fabric.  Each woman is unique but they also work together as an amazing visual quilt.  They're bright, beautiful, introspective, and most importantly autonomous.
